This lovely, little, Staffordshire Enamels, two piece box has a mime style clown, dressed in a burgundy/purple suit with a ruffled collar and pointed dunce cap, with "LAUGH and the world laughs with you" across the top. Red stars and blue crescents are the border. This well known quote comes from the poem "Solitude" by Ella Wheeler Wilcox. It has a diameter of .9" with a height of .7". On the purple base is "Staffordshire Enamels - Made in England - 97" with the artist's initials.
